The Kari have a calendar of the usual 12 months of 30 days, but there are three extra holidays interspersed in these: The Longest Night, The Longest Day, and Suphôrens Day. All in all, there are thus 363 days per year.
The calendar begins 2027 years ago, but historians have divided those up into several eras:
- Early Empire
- the Golden Age
- Squabbling Cities
- the Wars
- Conquest of Arismyth
- the Interregnum
- Southdawn (as it has been proclamated by the opening of the Tarkher pass in the fall of 2022)
Years are either notated by their era, or as straight counting across all eras since the founding of the empire.
Months are known as:
- Midwinter, 30 days
- Longest Night
- Winterend, 30 days
- Karmonth, 30 days
- Springfeast, 30 days
- Planters, 30 days
- Herdcare, 30 days
- Summers Rest, 30 days
- Longest Day
- Walzleaving, 30 days
- Suphôrens Day
- Harvest, 30 days
- Leaves 30 days
- Snowwatch, 30 days
- Frostwatch,30 days
The weekdays are named:
- Firstday
- Torusday
- Hillday
- Mortiswatch
- Fastday
- Feastday
- Sunday
At the time of this writing, we have the 15th day of Midwinter, of the sixth year of Southdawn - or 2027-01-15 in the imperial standard notation.
